Say it isn’t so!
My Google Rep just notified me that the AdWords Dropdown Beta Extension has been sunset on desktops and will only continue as an experiment on mobile devices.
My Rep Stated: “Sad news about the drop down extensions! Unfortunately, last week this beta has officially been sunset on desktop impressions. It will continue to experiment on mobile.”
It was not a very long lived extension. I first noticed and blogged about it in July. Ginny Marvin authored this Search Engine Land article which contained a statement from a Google spokesperson about the beta.
I am bummed because I thought the extension was great and allowed for a compact way to deliver a lot of extra messaging.
